Hello I am Ciel, evil webmaster of cielblue.net ooOOOHhhhooohh. I am 17 years old from Singapore and have been doing this website thing since early 2025. I like ummm the colour blue, skies (ciel in French), and I think .net TLD is cute... hence cielblue.net. By the way, the PFP and page doll are my persona.

I don't like describing myself (nor do I know what to say...) so this is very short. Look at this empty space! (that you can't see on mobile) If you think about it, empty and sky use the same kanji (空)... What am I talking about again?

Please introduce yourself.: hi my name is ciel and im doing this in class cuz its very boring. ive done this exact questionnaire like 4 times already but i kept losing my old webmaster pages and losing my answers. ive played these games before... im writing this on 2026-05-19 so some stuff might be outdated in the future.
How long have you been making websites?: i published my first site march 2025. ive technically had like 3 different domains but they were basically a continuation of the same website.
And what got you into the hobby?: idk! probably a combination of seeing videos about making a website and wanting to learn html to make my everskies profile cool.
What kind of website are you most interested in?: i like website that look cool.. and maybe some blogs depending on the content. for myself, i just wanna make a personal website.
What's your workflow? Do you plan your websites out thoroughly or do you come up with the design as you go along?: everything is just made along the way. maybe like a bit of planning when it comes to layouts but that it.
Please link to your biggest inspirations.: monsieurdoll when i first started and maybe mouseling.net.
What's your favourite part about making websites?: having a place to show what i do and who i am.
And the thing you struggle with the most?: making my site look cool. especially when i compare myself with other websites...
Do you keep the same layout on all of your pages? Or do you use different ones?: i use the same layout for types (like blog has same layout, galleries have same layout) of pages cuz im lazy
How confident are you with CSS?: fairly confident to do basic things but i still refer to docs or forums fairly often
Do you know how to correctly use <dl>?: yes. i think...
What is your favourite HTML element?: <details>. i may even overuse it...
If you're making a new web page from scratch, what is the first thing you do?: first, i need to know the content, then i plan the layout.
Do you know JavaScript?: nope. ive tried many times to learn... i will not give up!!
How about PHP?: nope. i use static site hosts anyway.
Does your website have a theme that you stick to?: well they all use the same stylesheet so yes? but not intentionally.
Are you more focused on content or design?: content. but i want to get better at design thoughhh.
Do you own a domain name? If not, would you ever want to?: yes! it was my first debit card purchase. kind of impulsive...
What do you think of nostalgia-focused or "retro" websites?: as long as they follow basic web standards then theyre aight i guess. i find it kinda weird when people who didn't live through that era do it though.
Is your HTML valid? Do you even check?: mostly, yes. i have a html validation extension to check.
What are your opinion on buttons and banners?: cool to look at but idk where to fit them on my site
What do you think of button walls in particular?: no opinion
If you started over again, would you make something similar or completely different?: ive restarted many times and i just keep making the same thing so...
Are you envious of other people's websites?: all the time
What text editor do you use?: VSCodium
Why do you use that one?: i used to use VSCode but i kinda had a phase of remving big tech from my life so i turned to VSCodium. I like how convenient Emmet is and the git source control panel is nice as someone who struggles remembering terminal commands.
Do you host your image files on your web server, or on another host?: on my web server.
This might not be relevant to you, but what's your opinion on the Neocities vs. Nekoweb debate?: its pointless.
How much server space would you estimate your main website takes up?: my repository is 1GB... the main culprit is all the audio files from my cd page but other than that it's probably like 10MB.
Do you keep local backups of your files?: yep
Do you prefer simple or highly visual websites?: i like visual websites UNLESS theyre super laggy. simple is nice for blogs though.
Do you stick to certain colours? Do you do that on purpose, or is it your subconscious?: i like blue
Have you ever thought about quitting? Why?: occassionally. more of a general "why do i do anything" feeling
Do you have many webmaster friends, or is it a solitary hobby?: very solitary
Do people in your real life know about your website?: only like 3 people know i have one but i dont tell them what it is.
Do you update your website very often? How often is "very often"?: i have bouts of updating super often like every day or multiple times a day and going on hiatus
And the overall design, do you change that much? Why or why not?: yeah, i just get bored of my old designs.
Is your website more you-focused, hobby-focused, or outside world-focused?: i suppose me and hobby focussed.
Do you do web design professionally?: no
If not, would you like to? And if you're comfortable answering, what do you do for work?: i kind of hope to... im a student.
Do you communicate with people by email very much?: nope. but i dont talk to people much at all anyway
Some people reject social media and use websites as a replacement. Do you keep social media outside of your website?: kind of. i have a few accounts but not really for the same purpose as my website. i dont use my website as a rejection of social media but i still reject it for a different reason.
How about instant messengers? Do you use a mainstream one like Discord or Telegram? Or something like Matrix? Do you avoid them?: whatsapp is a must. i have discord as like a "just in case" thing.
Do you listen to music while you work on websites? If so, what kinds of artists?: sometimes. whatever is in my playlist, currently mostly rentrer en soi and misanthrope.
Do you keep everything you make on one website, or do you have more than one?: right now i have one personal site. at one point i had an enstars fansite but i dont like enstars anymore so it's been scrapped.
On a similar note, do you keep to one topic on your site, or many?: many
Do you present your real self, or at least try? Or do you construct a persona on purpose?: im just being myself. a persona sounds tiring
Have you ever made a good friend thanks to your website?: nope
Are you happy with the way HTML and CSS currently work?: css is weird sometimes
What are practices that you think people should avoid?: autoplay music, a lot more but i have poor memory
What about under-utilised practices, or things you think people should do more?: uhhh semantic html idk
Do you use a lot of semantic HTML? Or are you guilty of generic structure?: i try my best to be an semantic as i can
53. Do you consider different browsers?: technically, yes. i use brave (chromium-based) and librewolf (firefox-based) on my computer and safari on my phone so i dont really mean to consider different browsers, it just happens that way.
54. Speaking of, what's your preferred browser? Convince your readers why they should use it.: brave. privacy focussed no fingerprinting wowww. and familiar for chrome refugees
And what OS are you on?: windows 11
Do you have a strong opinion on that, or do you just happen to use it?: school requirement. sighhh. i guess it's wide support is convenient
Are your websites mobile-friendly?: i just try to make them not broken on mobile.
What are your thoughts on autoplay?: hate it.
What are your thoughts on webrings? Are you in any?: i dont understand webrings that basically act as fanlistings. im currently in no ai webring and angelnet
Do you have any web shrines? What do you like to see in that sort of page?: not yet. i wanna see some personal stuff, wiki-like pages are kinda boring idk

What is your ideal website? Are you striving for that, or for something else?: i just want to be satified

What are your favourite resource sites?: ahh idk any rn i'll prob have them on my future links page
Is there a habit you just can't get away from no matter how hard you try?: inline styling. using 1 million ids for one or two styling properties is just inconvenient
What's your biggest advice for a new webmaster?: dont steal code
Do you keep all your styling in CSS? Or do you hard-code some?: mostly css unless it's something very specific and hard-coding won't affect mobile-friendliness
What do you think of frameset layouts?: bad for links or whatever
How about table-based layouts?: isnt that bad for semantics
Do you subscribe to the ideas of "one-column", "two-column" and "three-column" layouts? Do you use any of these?: i think my layout is one column..
Do you spend longer on the HTML or the CSS?: css. it's daunting
Have you ever made a page with no CSS? It's useful for your thoughts.: never none but minimal yes

Thoughts on floating elements?: if you mean the css property float, then theyre fine. if you mean elements that are floating not inside a div like a pagedoll then theyre okay as long as they dont affect interaction with the page content

Do you surf the Web to find new personal websites very often?: not these days, no. i get too envious or i just dont have time.

What do you want people to be most impressed with when they see your website?: uhhh idk what anyone would be impressed with
Are you interested in technology outside of websites? Do you collect?: a biiiit. i have somewhat of a homelab.

Speaking of programs that help you make websites, what do you think of static site generators (SSGs)? Have you ever used one?: idk, never used one
Do you keep a hitcounter? Why or why not?: no. ahh i dont really wanna care about it. also idk how accurate it is

Do you think you appear cool to others? A more accurate answer now: do other people ever say you're cool?: no. hmm like a few times but i don't buy it.

Would you close down your website if you couldn't update it, or would you leave an archive?: i wouldnt archive the personal stuff but maybe i'd leave a few things up
Do you reveal a lot about yourself on your website? Or are you more secretive?: it's basically a public diary sometimes so yeah quite a bit
